About this dashboard

This dashboard maps C-HAWQ's statewide residential canal footprint — the network of artificial, residential waterways carved into Florida's coastlines. Each polygon is one mapped canal system with its source attributes, including typology and classification fields. Use the filters and the map together: pan and zoom to a community, click any canal for its details, and turn on "Limit stats to map view" to make the indicators and charts describe only what's on screen.

Data source

Geometry and attributes are loaded from the ResCanals typology shapefile archive. Form (TYP_FORM), receiving waters (TYP_RECWATER), and connectivity (TYP_CONNEC) are available as filters and map color dimensions; all other source attributes are available in feature popups.

Notes

An internet connection is required for the basemap tiles and mapping libraries. Questions about the data or brand use: Nathan Hewitt (nathan@chawq.org).
